Dry skin getting to you? This time of year when temperatures drop and heaters come on, can really take a toll on your skin! When the skin gets really dry, the barrier function becomes compromised and can lead to hypersensitive skin, including rashes, breakouts, and other skin irritations. Here are some things you can do to keep your skin feeling moist and supple during cold months.1. Add more moisture. You may need to kick up the intensity of the moisture cream you have been using by adding in a booster (yes, I have some amazing booster oils!) and or getting one with more kick, including adding in a night cream. Use a moisturizing treatment mask 2 x per week. There are also some treatments you can use overnight on top of your moisturizer.2. Avoid prolonged heater use and sleeping with the heater on. It just sucks the moisture right out of your skin, kinda like an airplane. Bundle up around the house a bit more instead. It can be a great excuse to cuddle!3. Use warm, not hot water in the bath or shower which, again, just dries the heck out of the poor skin. In addition, it’s really bad for the skin on your face to be exposed to any extreme temperatures and can cause broken capillaries.I carry all the tools you need and more to keep your skin happy. If you are not sure what you need, and are not quite in the market for a facial, I offer complimentary skin consultations with a $50 product purchase, and I would be happy to customize a program for you.
